Hawaii Detective & Guard is seeking dependable Security Officers to help provide a safe and welcoming environment at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. This assignment supports daily operations at one of Hawaiʻi's most visited natural attractions while assisting with visitor safety, traffic flow, and protection of public facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Help direct vehicle traffic and parking throughout the preserve.
- Welcome visitors and provide information regarding site rules, parking, and access.
- Monitor assigned areas for safety concerns, suspicious activity, and policy violations.
- Report incidents, emergencies, and hazards promptly to supervisors.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signs when needed.
- Perform routine patrols of parking areas, entrance gates, pathways, and other assigned locations.
- Work alongside City & County park personnel to support daily operations and public safety.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Hawaii Guard Card.
- NIMS ICS-100 and IS-700 certifications, or the ability to obtain them after hire.
- Ability to communicate professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Reliable attendance, professional appearance, and a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work independently.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in security, public safety, parks, special events, or customer service.
- Familiarity with two-way radios and basic radio communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully with visitors from diverse backgrounds.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
- Visitor operations generally run Wednesday through Sunday.
- Limited security coverage is maintained on Mondays, Tuesdays, and designated holidays.
- Most shifts begin between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM and conclude by approximately 5:00 PM.
