Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this role is to contribute to Gates Painting Company coatings projects to include preparation, installation, cleaning and finishing duties as needed and assigned. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing labor tasks as needed/requested and leverages Journey level experience to mentor, train and assist other less experienced staff to perform coatings installations to an excellent quality standard.

· Is knowledgeable on the GPC Employee Handbook, Policies, and Procedures and reviews it regularly.
· Ability to maintain and electronically submit receipts, daily logs as well as safety logs.
· Ability to perform and document weekly safety meetings with direct employees or an entire crew.
· Ability to learn and/or perform coatings estimating with oversight.
· Ability to submit information electronically to the office on a daily basis, as needed
· Assist in preparing surfaces for finishing as needed as well as cleaning and other duties as assigned.
· Ability to mask surfaces for protection as shown in a timely manner.
· Ability to apply paint, varnish, stain, enamel as shown in a timely manner.
· Possess a basic understanding of pumps and their operations, while being able to clean and load them with product as well as spraying as needed.
· Able to identify the painting steps on a project from start to finish and communicate them to a group.
· Ability to identify all painting tools and equipment that is common to the painting trade.
· Assists and able to teach in preparing surfaces for finishing as needed.
· Proficient and able to teach in all masking of surfaces for protection as shown in a timely manner.
· Proficient and able to teach in applying paint, varnish, stain, enamel as shown in a timely manner.
· Ability to perform and document monthly company vehicle checklists and assist in company vehicle maintenance as needed.
· Adapt and learn new responsibilities as needed and for future advancement.
· Ability to solve problems daily in situations that fall in line with GPC policies and procedures.
· Must present with a clean and friendly appearance and comply with GPC dress code.
· Effectively communicate about all phases of the job.
· Maintain and stock personal tools as needed.
· Must follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a safe working environment; is expected to wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing the tasks of the job.
Requirements:
· Must have and maintain current COVID-19 vaccination.
· Must have and maintain current Flu vaccination.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Five plus years of coatings experience, or Journeyman level of on-the-job experience.
· A professional demeanor and ability to take direction.
· Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of personality styles. Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively; punctuality and ability to report to the job on time.
· Must be able to work all shifts as needed, shift times/ work weeks may be altered to meet customer requirements with a minimum amount of notification.
- Must be able to safely move about in a maintenance environment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, squat, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, drive, climb or balance for extended periods during shift. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hand-to-finger movements, handle or feel objects, and reach with arms and hands. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must regularly wear safety equipment including a respirator.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
- Must frequently be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to talk and/or be able to hear.
· Must possess a valid WA State Driver License.
· Must possess an operational vehicle and current auto insurance that meets WA State Law.
