Position Purpose:
HBT Americas is looking for an Automation Engineer to join our Automation team in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will support the development, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems used on underground longwall mining equipment.
This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced electrical, hydraulic, and automation technologies in a challenging industrial environment. While previous underground mining experience is valued, it is not required. We are looking for someone with a solid automation background, strong troubleshooting skills, and a willingness to learn our products and applications.

Responsibilities:
- Support the development, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of HBT automation systems.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and support HBT PMC-R controller platforms.
- Support and maintain CST (Conveyor System Technology) control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, automation, communication, and control system issues in both shop and field environments.
- Assist with product validation and on-site testing of equipment.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Sales to support customer projects.
- Provide technical support remotely and at customer sites during equipment commissioning and service activities.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
- Deliver technical support and training to customers and field personnel as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience with industrial automation, machine controls, or electrical control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Ability to work in an underground environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with one or more of the following are encouraged to apply:
- Experience with HBT PMC-R controller systems, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience supporting CST (Conveyor System Technology) controls, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience working with PLCs. Knowledge of ladder logic is an asset.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting HMI systems.
- Familiarity with industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, or CAN.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical control systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic or electro-hydraulic systems.
- Experience working with heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or mining equipment.
- Underground mining experience is valued but not required.
