About the Role
Maelee Construction Services, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to support our growing commercial project portfolio. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for earthwork, concrete, and underground utility projects.
We’re looking for someone who understands the full scope of site development work and can help us win projects through precise estimating and strong collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for earthwork, concrete, and utility construction projects
- Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during pre-construction
- Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and project data
- Assist in bid submissions and proposal preparation
- Track historical costs and help improve estimating accuracy over time
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating (commercial/site development preferred)
- Strong knowledge of earthwork, grading, concrete, and underground utilities
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and local market pricing
- Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of estimating experience in sitework or commercial construction
- Familiarity with local subcontractors and suppliers
- Experience working with project management teams on awarded jobs
