Duties
- Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, and skid steers to excavate trenches, move materials, and prepare sites for utility installation
- Install underground utilities including sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and other pipeline infrastructure following detailed construction plans and blueprints
- Read and interpret technical drawings, construction plans, and utility maps to ensure accurate placement of underground systems
- Conduct utility locating using specialized tools to identify existing underground utilities before excavation begins
- Perform trenching activities with precision using utility trenching equipment while adhering to safety regulations and project specifications
- Assist with concrete forming, finishing, and concrete pouring as needed on construction sites
- Maintain safety standards by following federal construction safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols at all times
Skills
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation including wheel loader, excavator, and skid steer operation
- Experience with utility system installation projects such as sanitary drainage systems, stormwater management, and underground utilities
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans accurately
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and tools for identifying underground utilities safely
- Skilled in pipe laser alignment and plumbing techniques relevant to pipeline installation projects
- Familiarity with concrete finishing techniques and concrete forming processes
- Understanding of federal construction safety regulations and OSHA standards for construction sites
- Ability to interpret technical specifications related to sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and other underground infrastructure
- Capable of working in diverse weather conditions on active construction sites with a focus on safety and efficiency
