Job Summary
The Hotel Chief Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all hotel facilities and equipment. This position requires a strong leader with extensive knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as experience in facilities management. Must have a strong understanding of technology and able to learn new systems with ease. The Chief Engineer will oversee maintenance staff, manage projects, and ensure compliance with safety standards while maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the engineering team to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Manage the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other hotel facilities.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, schedules, and inventory.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to identify areas needing repair or improvement.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime of equipment.
- Oversee high voltage and low voltage electrical work while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting hotel operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including schematics and project management documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on proper maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities management or industrial maintenance within a hospitality environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in HVAC systems, programmable logic controllers, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervising experience in a similar role.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in English; strong communication skills are essential for collaboration across departments.
- Familiarity with Ohmmeters and other diagnostic tools used for electrical testing is preferred.
