Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Security Controls Assessor (SCA) to support mission-critical Department of War (DoW) programs. This is a senior-level role responsible for evaluating complex IT and OT systems, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards, and advising on risk and security posture across enterprise environments.
This position is ideal for a seasoned cybersecurity leader with deep expertise in RMF, NIST 800-53, and system authorization processes.
What You’ll Do
- Perform security control assessments across IT and operational technology (OT) systems
- Evaluate system implementations against NIST 800-53 and RMF requirements
- Support system authorization (ATO) processes within DoW environments
- Assess security across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid architectures
- Review advanced capabilities such as cross-domain solutions, AI/ML, and virtualization
- Provide clear, actionable recommendations on risk posture and compliance gaps
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor within the cybersecurity team
- Interface with government stakeholders and system owners
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance (required)
- 14+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security
- Deep expertise in NIST SP 800-53 and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Experience conducting Security Controls Assessments (SCA) or equivalent
- Strong understanding of DoW systems, environments, and authorization processes
- Ability to assess complex, distributed, and high-security systems
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoW system authorization / ATO processes
- Familiarity with Special Access Programs (SAP) environments
- Certifications such as CISSP, CASP+, or equivalent
- Experience with cloud security, cross-domain solutions, or AI/ML systems
- Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field
Pay: $85.00 - $105.00 per hour
