Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations
- Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, child care needs, or senior care requirements, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey
- Follow all emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid protocols when necessary
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle mechanical condition and compliance with vehicle codes and safety standards
- Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using effective English or bilingual communication skills to provide timely updates and respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments
- Enforce student discipline policies when transporting children, ensuring a safe environment for all passengers
- Respond promptly to traffic incidents or emergencies by executing emergency stop procedures and coordinating with first responders as needed
Skills

- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and heavy lifting safety practices
- Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities
- Ability to perform quick responses to traffic changes while maintaining focus on passenger safety
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness
- Experience working with children or seniors; understanding behavior management techniques is highly desirable
- Familiarity with teaching or childcare practices related to student discipline and behavior management
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle passenger inquiries professionally
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations using CPR and first aid skills; familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation is essential

Pay: Up to $2,500.00 per week
