Position Objective
The Molding Operator Level III is responsible for performing advanced injection molding operations, mold setup, process optimization, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This position utilizes advanced technical knowledge to maintain molding equipment, optimize production processes, and support operational excellence while ensuring compliance with all company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of the Molding Operator Level I and Level II positions.
- Perform complete startup and shutdown of cartridge molding machines.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all cartridge molds.
- Properly select and utilize shims during mold installation, setup, and maintenance.
- Perform setup, operation, and troubleshooting of all e-molds.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of molding processes to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Perform advanced mold troubleshooting and identify corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot PET and PA molding processes to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Monitor and optimize machine process parameters throughout production.
- Complete and maintain all molding production, quality, setup, and process documentation accurately.
- Support mold changes, process improvements, and production changeovers.
- Participate in process parameter meetings and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Contingency Plans when production or quality concerns arise.
- Maintain compliance with all 6S workplace organization and housekeeping standards.
- Work closely with Team Leaders, Maintenance, Quality, and Process Engineering to resolve complex production issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Authorities
- Perform advanced machine setups and mold startups.
- Perform preventive maintenance on cartridge molds.
- Stop production when safety, equipment, or quality concerns exist.
- Reject and segregate nonconforming product.
- Recommend process improvements and cycle optimization opportunities.
- Escalate equipment, tooling, and quality concerns requiring engineering or maintenance support.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of injection molding processes.
- Thorough understanding of molding process parameters and process optimization.
- Advanced troubleshooting of molding equipment and molding processes.
- Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for cartridge molds.
- Ability to properly select and utilize mold shims.
- Working knowledge of all e-molds and associated equipment.
- Advanced understanding of PET and PA molding processes and troubleshooting techniques.
- Thorough understanding of all molding documentation, production records, and quality documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Thorough understanding of 6S workplace organization standards.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of six (6) months of successful experience as a Molding Operator Level II.
- No disciplinary write-ups or counseling within the previous six (6) months prior to promotion.
- Must successfully pass the approved Molding Level competency tests for all previous operator levels prior to promotion.
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform all Level I and Level II responsibilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in mold setup, machine startups, process optimization, preventive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and documentation.

Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to injection molding equipment, moving machinery, heat, noise, and industrial materials. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times. Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to support production demands.
