Company Description:
Blue Earth Compost is a residential, commercial, and event food scrap collection company. We collect food scraps from our customers and transport them to facilities for processing into renewable energy and compost. We see food scraps as a valuable resource that can help improve our soil, water, and air.
Summary:
This position will focus specifically on the collection of food scraps from our commercial customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. Collections will be performed in a single-axle or tandem-axle rear load dump truck designed for food scrap collection. A valid Class-B CDL is required to operate these trucks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performing pre and post-trip inspections of the truck.
- Safely operate a CDL Class B dump truck to service customer locations.
- Exiting the truck at each location to collect organic waste (food scraps) from various sizes of totes and dumpsters.
- Accurately record and track collection data using a mobile application.
- Perform sanitation of receptacles, including pressure washing containers during warmer months as needed.
- Transport and dispose of collected organic material at designated processing facilities in accordance with operational procedures.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and environmental compliance standards.
Requirements:
- Class-B CDL License
- DOT Medical Card
- Clean MVR
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to begin routes no later than 5am
- Ability to maneuver wheeled containers that weigh up to 250 lbs
- Must be VERY reliable and able to start route at 5am at the latest
- High school diploma or equivalent
Hours & Compensation:
- 45-50 hours/week, overtime paid at 1.5x
- Monday-Friday, weekend work available when needed
- $28/hour starting wage

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must be able to climb into and out of truck several times per day using three points of contact
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, and squat to perform a full inspection of the underside of the truck and inspect tires for adequate inflation and potential damage
- Must be able to maneuver wheeled containers weighing up to 250 lbs as part of daily collection duties
- Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operate a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner
