Iron Construction, Inc. specializes in Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing and Commercial Interiors. We are a commercial general contractor doing private work. Iron is a recognized expert in the construction, modification and expansion of manufacturing, laboratory, and controlled space areas.
We’re seeking a Sr Level Superintendent who will be responsible for the overall construction of our projects. They should have superior knowledge of all aspects of commercial construction (ie. site, concrete, structural, finishes, MEP, etc.). This includes but is not limited to, safety, scheduling, blueprint and project document understanding, applicable construction code and regulations knowledge, subcontractor coordination, management of self-performed work and interaction with clients, architects, subcontractors and government officials. The Superintendent will spend approximately 10% or less of their time in the office working on bids, training, and documentation. The Superintendent will be on job sites 90% or more of the time, depending on the size of the project. The time spent on the job site will be to manage the project, coordinate labor and subcontractors and meet with clients, architects, and subcontractors. The Superintendent does not perform any physical labor on the job site; occasionally the Superintendent may give directions to a carpenter or laborer that could include some physical labor. This should be the exception rather than the rule. The requirements listed herein are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- MEP Skills – strong understanding of MEPs
- Master Schedule - Implements and manages
- Material Ordering – Orders and coordinates delivery of materials
- Manpower – Efficiently schedules all manpower
- Budgets – Implements and manages construction budgets
- Daily Reports – Generates and reviews
- Safe Practices – Runs a safe site, includes daily safety meetings and proper training
- QA / QC - Maintains quality meets Company standards
- Logistics – Capable of producing Logistic Documents using PDF Editing software
- RFI’s – Capable of producing RFI’s
- Scope of Work - Knows Company & Sub Scope of Work
- City Inspections / Special Inspections – familiar with complete inspection process
- Submittal Review – Familiar with reviewing Submittals
- Punch List / Substantial Completion
- Work Hours - Able to work Nights and weekends if required
- Construction Drawings – Intermediate level of understanding Construction Drawings and Specifications
- As-Builts – Maintains as required Detailed As-Built Drawings
- Safety Training - Obtain OSHA 30 and First Aid CPR within first 30 Days.
- Other duties may be assigned – accepts and assists with special projects
To perform this job successfully, the Superintendent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Superintendent reports to Management. This position has superior knowledge of construction practices and uses problem solving skills as they are needed to resolve job site conflicts. This position must know how to prioritize numerous tasks and projects with multiple and shifting deadlines. The Superintendent must attend to details, collect, assimilate, prepare reports, and presents data to management. This position must manage critical and confidential information, difficult customers and situations with moderate to high levels of stress. The position must comfortably interact and build professional relationships with entry to executive level staff, subcontractors, clients, and possibly persons with English as a second language.
The Superintendent position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five to eight years overall construction experience, including one to three years superintendent experience.
Life Science experiences a plus.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
