Medical assistant experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes using systems
- Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software and coordinate follow-up visits or tests
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, responding promptly to inquiries and directing calls appropriately
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and updating files in EMR systems
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating health histories with attention to detail
- Support medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is required.
- Prior podiatry clinic or foot and ankle practice experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably in a clinic or dental office
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards with integrity and confidentiality
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and administrative support tasks
- Outstanding communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor
- Prior clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
