Position Summary
Under the general direction of Plant Manager, the Truss Builder/Manufacturing Laborer manufactures columns and trusses in a plant setting, focusing on high quality, timely, efficient, and cost-effective production.
Starting pay: $18.00/hour with a potential $2.00 increase after 90 days.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Thursday from 4:00am - 2:30pm. Overtime required on some Fridays.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Read, understand and follow stock and special product requisitions and engineered drawings.
- Operate machinery including presses, saws, pneumatic nail guns and other equipment.
- Pull materials required for production. Inspect materials and accept or reject based on Walters’ standards.
- Produce high quality columns and trusses in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Stock and maintain product as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Contribute to a safe, productive, and positive plant culture, including completing daily safety inspections for both machinery and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to be certified in operating forklifts (certification will be provided).
- Self-starter who works well independently, as well as the ability to work well with a team.
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, and dependable.
- “Safety First” understanding.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
- Physical demands include walking/standing frequently, kneeling/stooping/bending/twisting occasionally, climbing step stools and ladders occasionally, reaching overhead occasionally, full range of motion with both hands.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors. This can include extreme weather conditions and working in a dusty environment.
- Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.
- Overtime will be required.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing or construction experience preferred.
