GBI is a business unit of PRO-SET Formulated Resin Systems, LLC (PFRS), a global platform delivering high-performance formulated resin and polymer solutions for demanding applications across marine, aerospace, defense, electronics, energy, and advanced manufacturing markets. About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Technical Advisor to address customer technical inquiries about our products and support new product development through R&D activities. This role combines customer service expertise with practical composite fabrication skills, technical writing, and marketing support to help customers succeed with our epoxy systems.
You'll be a key resource for customers seeking technical guidance, while also building test parts, creating instructional content, and staying current with industry trends. If you have a passion for composites and enjoy both problem-solving with customers and hands-on fabrication work, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on customer success and product innovation. Our ideal candidate would have experience in composite manufacturing processes such as infusion, vacuum bagging, and composite mold fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Technical Support
- Answer technical questions from customers and document interactions appropriately.
- Provide expert guidance on product applications and techniques.
- Ensure customer support activities create positive experiences.
Fabrication and Testing
- Fabricate and build test parts and assemblies using composite materials.
- Prepare substrates, use hand and power tools, and machine components.
- Laminate and infuse materials for new product development and customer service testing.
- Support new product development and customer service projects as assigned.
Content Development and Marketing Support
- Assist Marketing in development and production of instructional video content.
- Write scripts, prepare materials and props, and demonstrate proper application techniques.
- Write technical articles for GBI publications and websites.
- Support marketing initiatives including trade shows, customer visits, and technical lectures.
Market Intelligence
- Maintain awareness of competitive products and industry trends.
- Stay current on technology developments in the composites industry.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in composites, plastics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, OR equivalent combination of formal education and professional experience in architectural, plastics, composites, or marine trades.
- Hands-on experience with composite materials fabrication techniques.
- Experience in a composite manufacturing environment.
- Experience in different composite manufacturing processes such as infusion, hand layup, vacuum bagging, composite mold fabrication, etc.
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English.
- Ability to use computer writing and spreadsheet programs.
- Physical ability to work in office, laboratory, and production environments.
- Ability to lift heavy boxes or objects of thirty pounds or more.
- Comfortable with walking, turning, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing throughout the workday.
Nice to Have (but Not Required)
- Experience with technical writing or creating instructional content.
- Public speaking or presentation experience.
- Video production or on-camera demonstration experience.
- Previous experience in customer-facing technical support roles.
- Knowledge of epoxy chemistry or adhesive systems.
- Trade show or event marketing experience.
- Familiarity with current composites industry trends and competitive products.
What to Expect
- Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday at our Bay City facility.
- Environment: Climate-controlled office areas with time spent in laboratory, production, and warehousing areas where temperatures and sound levels may vary. Smoke-free workplace.
- Flexibility: Hours may extend for meetings, special projects, or fieldwork. This is a key position that may require attending scheduled meetings outside normal working hours.
- Travel: Travel is expected and required for customer visits, trade shows, and technical lectures.
