Job Description
We are currently seeking a full-time or part-time Medical Insurance Verification Specialist to work in our Central Business/Corporate office located in Plano, TX. The right candidate will also assist with other billing office duties. Partial work from home will be allowed after training and probation period ends.
Job Summary:
The Medical Insurance Verification specialist will be responsible for verification of medical benefits of patients to be seen by our providers, and placing them on the providers' schedules. Medical Insurance verification required. Medical Front Office Experience preferred. Others duties will be performed as assigned by the Billing Manager, COO, and CEO.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum of one year experience required.
Experience with verification of insurance benefits
Experience with A/R, Chart Auditing is a plus
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
- Knowledge of computer programs.
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
- Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
- Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
- Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a central corporate office environment that does not have direct patient contact. Manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Intermediate Excel and Word Experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Central Corporate Office environment without direct patient contact. Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.
