Job Title: Grounds Crew
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Facilities Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SUMMARY
Maintain grounds and equipment maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but not limited to:
- Mulching and weeding all beds and gardens
- Watering all ground areas per plant needs
- Mowing
- Trimming hedges and shrubs
- Edging pathways
- Raking and bagging
- Snowplowing
- Shoveling
- Operates light duty equipment in the support of buildings and grounds maintenance
- Does touch up painting and repairs outside and within the facility as well as at all on and off-campus housing and buildings
- Other duties may be assigned by the Facilities Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
· Must be a steady, reliable worker
· Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
· Must be able to work independently
· Valid Driver’s License
· 18 years of age
· Must be able to follow safety instructions
· Some experience in ground maintenance, riding lawn mowers
· Able to work overtime and weekends as needed (mainly during winter months)
· Basic mechanical skills
· Ability to adjust scheduled hours/summer and winter
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
One-year experience in grounds maintenance, riding lawn mowers
Ability to operate a variety of mechanical equipment
Ability to work with and knowledge of mechanical equipment
Must be able to follow safety instructions
Valid Driver’s License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS /WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Dexterity is essential for hand tools and painting. Must be able to stand, crouch and climb to be able to perform repairs, use ladders and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
