We are a well-established public accounting firm serving individuals and closely held businesses throughout Massachusetts and beyond. We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer with 5-8 years of public accounting tax preparation experience who is looking for a long-term career opportunity with a collaborative team of professionals.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with a diverse client base, expand your technical knowledge, and grow into increasing levels of responsibility within the firm.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, corporations (C and S), partnerships, trusts, estates, and gift tax returns.
- Prepare tax extensions and quarterly estimated tax calculations.
- Develop tax planning projections and strategies for both individual and business clients.
- Review client financial information and perform accounting and write-up work as needed.
- Manage multiple client engagements while meeting filing deadlines and maintaining exceptional client service.
- Research complex federal and state tax issues and prepare written memoranda outlining findings and recommendations.
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices, examinations, and inquiries, and communicate directly with taxing authorities when appropriate.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing timely, professional advice and exceptional service.
- Collaborate with partners and staff on tax consulting engagements and special projects.
- Stay current with federal and state tax law changes and assist in implementing best practices throughout the firm.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of recent public accounting tax preparation experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, gift, and multi-state tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
Preferred:
- CPA license or progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience with Drake Tax Software.
- Experience reviewing work prepared by junior staff.
- Ability to identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive client recommendations.

Work Schedule

- In-person at our suburban Boston office
