Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate cabling installation projects, including structured cabling, fiber splicing, and low-voltage electrical wiring, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as NEC and best practices.
- Install and troubleshoot telecommunications systems, including Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, VoIP systems, and Avaya communication platforms.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and network layouts to accurately execute installation plans.
- Conduct fiber optic splicing, testing (RF testing), and certification to guarantee optimal system performance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, network testers, and telecommunication testing equipment to identify issues and perform equipment repairs efficiently.
- Supervise field service activities involving cable termination, equipment troubleshooting, and network wiring in diverse environments like data centers or office buildings.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards including NEC regulations while maintaining high-quality service delivery for clients.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or lead in cabling or telecommunications environments with a strong background in fiber splicing, network installation, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet protocols (Cat5/Cat6), Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and VoIP systems.
- Skilled in reading schematics, technical diagrams, and telecommunications wiring diagrams with precision.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunication testing equipment such as fiber testers, RF testers, ohmmeters, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely for cable installation and termination tasks.
- Electrical experience working with AC/DC systems, low-voltage wiring standards (NEC compliance), and structured cabling installation techniques.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients at all levels.
- Leadership qualities with prior experience supervising teams or leading projects in data center or telecommunications settings are highly preferred.
