Thayer Distribution is a well-established, fast-growing, family-run company with a fun, fast-paced culture—we sell candy and snacks, so we don’t take ourselves too seriously (but we take our work very seriously).
Everything we do is driven by our values: stay hungry, remain humble, continuously evolve, maintain mutuality and pursue innovation. We challenge ourselves to improve constantly—because good is never good enough.
As a leader in our industry, we’ve built a reputation for cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art facilities that redefine what distribution can be.
About the Role
We’re looking for a strongly detail-oriented, and motivated individual to join our procurement team.
Previous industry experience is not required—we’re happy to train a driven, focused individual. What matters most is that you’re perceptive, highly organized, and tech-savvy and especially comfortable working in Excel, including cleaning and preparing data for upload into our systems.
This role operates in a fast-paced environment where multiple priorities come at you throughout the day. You’ll need to be highly responsive, able to manage a steady flow of tasks, and take initiative and follow through without needing constant direction.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working in systems, embraces technology (including our AI-driven tools), and can keep up in an environment where a lot is happening at once and details matter.
What You’ll Do
- Upload and manage supplier price lists (primarily from Excel into our system)
- Create and maintain new items/SKUs in our system
- Support buying and purchasing activities
- Answer general purchase order (PO) questions/track down unscheduled PO's
- Review pricing and help catch errors and inconsistencies
- Communicate with vendors and internal team on updates, requests, and follow-ups
- Track open items and ensure nothing falls through the cracks
- Keep product and pricing data clean, organized, and accurate
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree or equivalent hands-on business experience demonstrating strong business acumen.
- Tech-savvy, comfortable working with data, systems, and evolving technology (including AI-driven tools)—we operate in a highly digital environment
- Strongly proficient with Excel
- High attention to detail and organization
- Relentless follow-up skills—you stay on top of things until they’re done
- Self-starter who takes ownership and works independently without constant oversight
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new tools, platforms, and processes
- Proactive communicator who asks questions and solves problems
- Comfortable with change—we regularly challenge and improve our processes, and we’re looking for someone who embraces that mindset
