Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and creative Activities Assistant to join our Life Enrichment team. This position is responsible for supporting and enhancing the daily activity program for residents in an assisted living and memory care community. The Activities Assistant will help create engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable experiences that promote socialization, independence, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors, has a positive attitude, and is passionate about enriching the lives of others through recreational, educational, and social activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and implementation of daily activities, events, and outings for residents.
- Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Engage residents through games, crafts, music, exercise programs, educational opportunities, and social gatherings.
- Support memory care programming by utilizing effective communication techniques and person-centered engagement strategies.
- Help decorate and prepare activity areas for special events, holidays, and community celebrations.
- Assist with transporting residents to and from activities within the community as needed.
- Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program materials.
- Document resident participation and provide feedback regarding activity preferences and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with the Life Enrichment Director to develop programs that meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of residents.
- Foster a safe, positive, and supportive atmosphere during all activities.
- Perform other activity-related duties as assigned.
Qualification and Skills
- Previous experience working with seniors, recreational programs, activities, hospitality, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
- Understanding of dementia and memory care engagement techniques is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead group activities and encourage participation.
- Creative, energetic, and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and committed to providing exceptional resident experiences.
