Senior Project Manager - Heavy Civil
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex heavy civil and infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, proven project management skills, and the ability to deliver projects safely, on budget, and on schedule while maintaining excellent client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all phases of heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.

Develop, maintain, and execute project controls including cost tracking, forecasting, schedule management, and reporting to senior leadership and clients.

Ensure strict compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements; promote a proactive safety culture on all job sites.

Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and vendorsoversee contract administration, scope management, change orders, and performance metrics.

Coordinate design, permitting, and constructability reviews with engineering teams and third-party consultants to reduce risk and optimize project delivery.

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop contingency plans and lead resolution of technical, commercial, and schedule issues.

Serve as the primary client point of contact, fostering strong relationships, managing expectations, and facilitating communication between stakeholders.

Drive productivity and continuous improvement initiatives; mentor, develop, and lead project teams to achieve high performance.

Prepare and present project status reports, financial updates, and executive summaries to internal and external stakeholders.

Manage claims, disputes, and contract settlements as required to protect project and company interests.
Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Masters degree or advanced coursework a plus.

Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction with at least 5 years in a project management role.

Proven track record managing large, complex projects (roadways, bridges, utilities, earthworks, marine works, or similar heavy civil scopes).

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, estimating, scheduling (Primavera P6 or MS Project), and project controls/financial management.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability on multimillion-dollar projects.

Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills.

Experience with contract types common to the industry (EPC, design-bid-build, design-build) and contract administration.
