UPMC Somerset is seeking a Diagnostic Technologist to join a dedicated team of life‑changers committed to delivering exceptional patient care!
As a Diagnostic Technologist, you will perform a wide range of imaging procedures independently, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role requires sound judgment, technical expertise, and initiative while supporting accurate diagnoses in a fast-paced clinical environment.
This full-time opportunity offers a dynamic schedule working Monday through Friday with rotating weekends across Daylight, Evening, and Night shifts.

Responsibilities:

Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol for procedures.

Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols.

Document patient history in electronic records as needed.

Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy.

Ensure exams are coded, tracked, networked to ISITE, and charges entered.

Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols.

Use complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.

Interact with patients and co-workers with care, respect, and teamwork.

Perform technical procedures with independent judgment and appropriate radiation use.

Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to ease their fears.

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
- Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

Technologist cannot work in an outpatient setting until ARRT has been obtained.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

ARRT Certificate

Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date as of January 1, 2025.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
