Business Advisor: Job Description
The business advisor will provide one-on-one counseling to businesses in Cook County, including both city and suburban areas. This position will focus primarily on business counseling under the Cook County Small Business Source Program (The Source), with a specific focus to helping small businesses develop recovery and resiliency plans in response to the new challenges and opportunities that have emerged in the post COVID economy. Counseling will cover a range of topics such as basic accounting, business planning, cash flow management, financial analysis, access to capital, and entrepreneurship training. While primarily based in IHCC's new office, the advisor will also travel to surrounding Cook County’s suburban and city areas, especially municipalities and townships with a high concentration of Latino-owned businesses.
Responsibilities:
● Provide direct one-on-one counseling and training to small businesses.
● Plan and coordinate programs and activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the program.
● Maintain an updated list of referral sources.
● Provide timely and accurate reports per the program’s requirements.
● Review of business plans, recommendations, and guidance.
● Develop and present workshops/webinars on various business topics when needed.
● Refer businesses to partners or other organizations when necessary.
● Coordinate and cultivate relationships with various key stakeholders and groups.
● Track all counseling hours and maintain detailed session notes for each session.
● Support all IHCC events.
Requirements:
● Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, or a related field.
● Must be fully bilingual in both English and Spanish.
● Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Must be a driven, self-starter who is comfortable in a close-knit, team-oriented setting.
● Must be able to work effectively with a diverse constituency.
● Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar software.
● Must hold a valid Driver’s License in the State of Illinois and have reliable transportation.
Pay: $63,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
