Job Title:
Medical Receptionist
Reports To:
Front Office Supervisor
Job Purpose:
Help specialty practice providers, staff and patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
Receptionist Job Duties:
- Answer phone calls, schedule patient visits and route phone calls. Relay important information in an efficient and concise manner.
- Prepare and maintain patient electronic medical charts/records.
- Check patients in. Collect, verify and enter patient and insurance information. Collect and document copays at time of visit. Save providers time by reviewing patient forms for accuracy and completeness before putting chart up.
- Schedule follow-up appointments.
- Perform patient call backs.
- Balance daily cash log.
- Insurance verification.
- Referral follow-up.
- Provide physician with copy of daily and weekly schedule.
- Filing.
- Open and close clinic as needed.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential by following HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
- Enhance practice reputation. Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Must be a good verbal communicator; have good listening skills; be polite, professional and have a helpful nature; ability to work with telephones, personal computers, email, fax and copy machines with a high level of efficiency and file alphabetically with high level of accuracy. Maintain continuity among staff and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results. Promote a safe and effective work environment.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in customer service preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
