Afterschool Academic Instructor (Part-Time)
Enlightened Learning Club (ELC) is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and caring individuals to join our afterschool academic team.
At ELC, we support Kindergarten through 6th Grade students through homework assistance, reading support, academic enrichment, and structured learning activities. Our goal is to help students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and grow in a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable managing a group classroom setting, and is passionate about education.
Job Responsibilities
As an Afterschool Academic Instructor, you will:
- Assist K–6 students with daily homework and help them understand academic concepts.
- Prepare classroom practice materials, worksheets, and simple instructional resources.
- Guide students in developing strong reading habits, study skills, and independent learning habits.
- Lead small-group academic and enrichment activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
- Supervise and manage a classroom of up to 15 elementary-aged students.
- Keep students focused, engaged, and on task throughout the program.
- Monitor student attendance and maintain accurate student records.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and team members when needed.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to provide a high-quality learning experience.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be:

- Able to multitask in a fast-paced afterschool environment.
- Comfortable leading and supervising a group of students.

- Able to support students with different grade levels and academic abilities in the same classroom.
- Able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and team members.
- A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, or English and Spanish, is highly preferred.
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Major or coursework in Education, Child Development, Liberal Studies, English, Mathematics, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Experience in tutoring, afterschool programs, childcare, classroom settings, or youth programs preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills highly preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
- TB test clearance is a plus or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Training will be provided for qualified candidates.
Schedule
Part-Time
Monday – Friday
- Most shifts take place after 1:00 PM, with typical working hours between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
- Work schedules may vary based on program needs, student enrollment, and seasonal scheduling.
- Applicants must be available for a minimum commitment from August through December.
Expected Hours: 15–19 hours per week
Compensation
$20.00 – $25.00 per hour
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students for extended periods.
- Ability to move around the classroom and assist students as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.

- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to employment.
- Must be able to work in person at our Rancho Cucamonga location.
- Applicants must be available for a minimum commitment from August through December.
