Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Art Teacher to foster creativity and artistic development among students of various age groups. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in art education, with expertise in curriculum development, classroom management, and working with children. As an Art Teacher, you will design engaging lesson plans, facilitate artistic expression, and support students' individual growth while adhering to educational standards and fostering a positive learning environment.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive art curricula tailored to different age groups, including adolescent and adult.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate various mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.
- Manage environments effectively to promote positive behavior and active participation among students.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during art activities, including proper use of materials and first aid procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including other mental health therapists, prescribing clinicians, registered dieticians (RD), and nursing staff, regarding treatment planning, assessing progress, and discharge planning
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching art to adolescents and adults, preferred experience with those in behavioral health or special education settings.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, classroom management, and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with childhood development instruction, literacy education, and Montessori or similar pedagogical approaches.
- Experience working with children with special needs or in early intervention programs is highly desirable.
- Certification or degree in art education, early childhood education, or a related field is required.
- First aid and CPR certification are preferred to ensure student safety during activities.

- Lead and oversee all patient expressive therapies groups
- Assist the PHP Manager with the coordination and development of the expressive therapy programs for IOP and PHP as needed
- Serve as point person for THIRA staff regarding Expressive Therapies operational questions and issues
- Prepare and clean up all expressive therapy spaces in adherence to the infection prevention and control guidelines as well as other cleanliness/safety standards
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records to complete clinical documentation in a timely manner
