Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and sterile environment for both patients and staff. This position requires a strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting. Experience with dental terminology and various dental software systems is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and stored according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and monitor equipment performance.
- Assist in the preparation of treatment areas by ensuring all necessary supplies are available and organized.
- Support chairside assisting during procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials to the orthodontist and assistants.
- Adhere to infection control standards and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Perform routine maintenance on sterilization equipment and report any malfunctions or issues promptly.
- Taking and processing intra/extra oral photos x-rays.
- Placing or separators in patients mouths and taking scans when necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry being an advantage but will train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Edge is beneficial.
- Understanding of medical/dental/orthodontic terminology, and infection control practices is essential.
- Experience with medical imaging techniques, including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
