Position 1: High-Impact Tutor (K-3rd Grade Reading & Math)

Location: Kerrick Elementary School
Position Type: Part-Time, Grant-Funded Contract (1-Year Term, possible to re renewed for second year)
Schedule: Monday – Thursday | 8:50 AM – 1:20 PM (4.5 hours/day)
Compensation: $24.00 – $26.00 / hour (Depending on experience)
Benefits: 4 Paid Time Off (PTO) days per semester (8 days total for the school year, usable for sick leave or vacation), Follow JCPS Schedule for holidays and days off (some will be paid days off, some will be unpaid days off, some will be paid training days- calendar will be provided)

Position Overview (Applicable to Both Roles)
We are seeking two growth-minded, reliable, and enthusiastic High-Impact Tutors to join The Full Circle Initiative at Kerrick Elementary. One tutor will focus on K-3rd Grade Reading & Math, and the second will focus on 4th-5th Grade Reading & Math.
Operating within a fast-paced elementary environment, tutors will deliver intensive small-group interventions to help students close academic gaps and meet targeted proficiency goals. Tutors will work directly alongside a certified interventionist and the I Would Rather Be Reading (IWRBR) team. You will not be required to supervise an entire class independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Instruction: Deliver structured, high-dosage science of reading and math lessons to small groups of students in rapid, 15-20 minute rotations.
- Adaptive Teaching: Utilize pre-provided curriculum plans, but remain agile and ready to adapt instruction on the fly to help students progress as needed.
- Collaboration: Actively coordinate with school staff, the certified interventionist, and the IWRBR team to ensure a cohesive support network for students.
- Data & Assessment: Administer regular student assessments to track growth. Compile data and generate progress reports every 4–5 weeks to share with program stakeholders (comprehensive training and support provided).
- Daily Attendance: Maintain strict reliability, ensuring your physical presence daily at the school from the beginning of August through mid-May.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience working with children in a tutoring, camp, or educational setting is required.
- Highly Desired: Experience or baseline knowledge of Science of Reading strategies is highly preferred but not required.
- Mindset: A strong growth mindset, high energy, and a self-starting attitude capable of thriving in a fast-paced school atmosphere.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with certified teachers, interventionists, and program leadership.
- Background Check: Must successfully pass all mandatory school district background checks and clearances.
