- supervises part-time personnel;
- coordinates student activities as assigned;
- conducts group and individual counseling sessions;
- provides academic advisement;
- assists seniors with college admissions and financial aid;
- recruits potential students;
- conducts workshops with parents and students;
- chaperones all TRIO activities;
- visits target schools bi-weekly to meet with students;
- assists academic specialist with after-school tutoring supervision;
- maintains student files;
- interviews parents of potential students;
- assists the director with orientation for new students and parents;
- maintains relationships with target school counselors and other key school personnel;
- coordinates pre and post testing of students;
- coordinates follow-up of program graduates;
- coordinates summer class schedules for students;
- coordinates tracking of program graduates through college graduation
- maintains library of college catalogues, applications, and other materials relating to college admissions
- Designs promotional literature to be used for recruitment and related purposes;
- disseminates fee waivers to juniors and seniors for SAT and ACT national exams
- assists director with grant writing;
- assists director with program evaluation;
- other duties as assigned by the Project Director
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelors degree required, Masters Degree preferred, in counseling, education, social work or related field required. Three years experience working with low-income, first generation high school age youth. Knowledge of scholarship searches, FAFSA requirements and college admissions procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Trio experience preferred. Should possess strong computer skills with competency with Microsoft excel, access and publisher.
