We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist/Follow-up Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients, visitors, and staff warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and patient inquiries efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update medical records accurately
- Follow up on outstanding billing issues by contacting insurance companies, patients, or healthcare providers to resolve claims denials or discrepancies
- Review medical claims for accuracy, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure timely submission of claims and monitor payment statuses within healthcare claims management systems
- Maintain detailed records of all billing correspondence, payments, adjustments, and collections efforts
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry in billing software, managing medical records, and preparing reports for management
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare operations
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office suite for documentation and communication purposes
- Strong understanding of medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Knowledge of health insurance processes, medical collections, and healthcare claims management procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor in handling patient interactions
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior experience with billing software is highly preferred; familiarity with medical billing practices is essential
