Magtech is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker / Model Maker to support prototype tooling, composite models, vacuum forming, and low-volume production projects within automotive supplier based out of Metro Detroit.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday: 6:00am – 4:30pm
- Saturday: 6:00am – 11:00am
- Up to 55 hours/week
Responsibilities
- Build master models, tooling, and prototype patterns
- Interpret engineering blueprints and CAD models
- Generate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC toolpaths using CAD/CAM software
- Construct composite layups, laminating tooling, and vacuum-form tooling
- Operate model shop equipment including saws, drill presses, and sanders
- Support prototype, display, and low-volume manufacturing builds
Qualifications
- 2-5+ years of pattern making/model shop experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing
- Experience with composites, thermoforming plastics, vacuum forming, and laminating
- Blueprint reading and basic GD&T knowledge
- Ability to hold tight tolerances (+/- .005”)
- Must have personal toolbox/tools
Preferred
- Patternmaking Apprenticeship or Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering background
- CNC programming and CAD/CAM experience
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
