MUST HAVE CDL AND FORKLIFT EXPERIANCE
Role: Yard Laborer (Structural Steel) – Supports the loading, storage, and yard maintenance of steel materials for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading & Unloading: Load and unload steel beams, girders, plates, and other structural materials from trucks, trailers, and cranes.
- Material Handling: Move, secure, and position steel materials in designated yard areas; lift and carry heavy loads (often 50+ lbs, occasionally over 100 lbs)
- Storage & Organization: Organize and store steel materials efficiently, keeping work areas clear and safe.
- Yard Maintenance: Perform general yard upkeep, including debris cleanup, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping tasks.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE (e.g., steel-toed boots), and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Specialized Tasks: May assist with core cutting, geotechnical logging, or other project-related yard duties as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Physical Fitness: Able to stand for long periods, lift heavy loads, and work in rough terrain.
- Attention to Detail: Follow instructions precisely and maintain a safe work environment.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate forklifts, band saw and/or other equipment.
- Driver’s License: Valid and reliable transportation required
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; higher education is an asset
- Experience: Must know how to operate a forklift and have prior experience as a yard labor.
Work Environment
- Outdoor, often in direct sunlight or rain.
- Exposure to heavy machinery, steel materials, and potential hazards.
- May work weekends or holidays depending on project schedule.
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00AM to 2:30PM (hours may vary)
Pay: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour
