About This Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to join our team at Kent Community Nursery School (KCNS). As a play-based learning environment, we provide children with a safe and caring space to explore and grow. Our educational program is designed to foster social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
This part-time position requires about 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 11-3 PM. We are also looking for someone to substitute teach, as needed. KCNS daily hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
What You'll Do
Key responsibilities include:

Cultivating a play-based approach to learning, ensuring extensive outdoor time for children.

Creating a secure and engaging environment that promotes children's growth.

Establishing and maintaining a daily routine, including morning walks, circle time, art, projects, reading, and mealtimes.

Providing emotional support and guidance to each child.

Encouraging self-reliance and activities that foster self-esteem.

Teaching safety awareness and hygiene practices, including toileting and hand washing.

Maintaining close supervision of children during learning times, mealtimes, and restroom breaks.

Accepting full responsibility for the children and program.

Collaborating with other teachers on activities and projects.
Requirements
Qualifications. The Teacher must have experience working with preschool-age children and a genuine passion for child development. The position requires:

A minimum of a high school diploma or an equivalent certificate.

At least eighteen (18) years of age.
-
Five hundred and forty (540) hours documented experience in working with unrelated children of the same age(s).

Required certifications are to be completed by the time the position begins:

Administration of Medication Training for Childcare: Injectable medication, (renewed every year)

CT OEC Background Check, completed by the time the position begins (renewed at expiration)

Administration of Medication Training for Childcare: Oral, topical, and inhalant medication, (renewed every 3 years)

Child Care and CPR/First Aid Certification: Adult, Child, Infant, (renewed every 2 years)

Medical Exam, (renewed every two years)

CT Care 4 Kids Health and Safety Training,
Nice To Haves
We are particularly interested in candidates who possess:

Credits in early childhood education or child development from a regionally accredited higher education institution.

An earned Associate's CDA (Child Development Associate)

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
