Department: Sales & Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager & President
Position Summary
We are seeking a high-energy, reliable Counter Sales & Operations Team Member to serve as the primary point of contact for our customers. This role requires a unique blend of technical accuracy and a "people-first" mindset. You will be responsible for managing the sales counter, processing orders with precision, and ensuring a positive customer experience from the moment they walk in. When not assisting customers, you will play a hands-on role in the warehouse, pulling orders and maintaining inventory to ensure the company runs at peak efficiency.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Counter Operations: Serve as the face of the company at the sales counter. Greet customers, answer technical questions, and maintain a helpful, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Order Management: Learn and master the WISE data system to efficiently write up and process customer orders. Ensure all administrative details, pricing, and quantities are entered with 100% accuracy.
- Order Fulfillment: Transition quickly from the counter to the warehouse to pull material for customer orders, ensuring the correct products are staged and ready for pickup or delivery.
- Inventory & Merchandising: Ensure the counter area and surrounding stock zones are clean, organized, and fully restocked. Help identify inventory gaps or stock needs to minimize "out-of-stock" situations.
- Warehouse Support: Assist the warehouse team with the overall workload, including receiving incoming shipments, verifying counts, and placing materials in their proper bin locations.
- Communication: Act as the liaison between the customer and the office team, ensuring special orders and follow-up work are handled seamlessly.
Core Values for Success
- Customer Focus: Deliver total satisfaction by being attentive, resourceful, and professional at the sales counter.
- Profitability: Ensure all order entry and inventory tasks are performed accurately to prevent errors and waste.
- Communication: Facilitate timely information flow regarding customer needs, stock levels, and order status between the office and the warehouse.
- Integrity & Professionalism: Conduct all personal interactions—whether with a long-time customer or a new vendor—in a courteous and respectful manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- Customer Service Mindset: A passion for helping others and the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
- Technical Aptitude: Ability to quickly learn our product lines and become proficient in the WISE system for order processing.
- Detail-Oriented: A "head-down" approach to data entry to ensure orders are written correctly the first time.
- Equipment: Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (forklifts, etc.) to pull and move inventory.
- Reliability: A proven track record of punctuality and trustworthiness.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Environmental Exposure: Ability to work in varying conditions, including exposure to the elements (heat, cold, rain) when retrieving material from the yard or loading vehicles.
- Physical Labor: Ability to safely lift and handle material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Mobility: Ability to stand and move between the sales counter and the warehouse for the duration of the shift.
- Digital Proficiency: Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and handheld scanners for efficient order entry.
