Position Summary
Kids Can Community Center is seeking an energetic, organized, and student-centered Afterschool Site Director to launch and lead our new afterschool program at Phoenix Academy.
The Site Director is responsible for the overall operation, quality, and success of the program, ensuring students experience a safe, engaging, and enriching environment each day after school. This position oversees daily program operations, staff supervision, family communication, student behavior support, and partnership development with Phoenix Academy leadership.

Essential Responsibilities
Program Leadership
· Lead all day-to-day operations of the afterschool program.
· Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for students.
· Develop and implement high-quality enrichment activities aligned with youth development best practices.
· Ensure programming supports academic success, social-emotional learning, physical activity, and student interests.
· Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement efforts.
Staff Supervision
· Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate site staff.
· Provide coaching, support, and professional development opportunities.
· Maintain appropriate staffing levels and schedules.
· Foster a positive, collaborative team culture.
Student Engagement & Behavior Support
· Build positive relationships with students and families.
· Establish clear expectations and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
· Utilize positive behavior management strategies.
· Support students with varying academic, social, and emotional needs.
School & Family Partnerships
· Serve as the primary liaison between Kids Can and Phoenix Academy.
· Maintain strong communication with school administration, teachers, and support staff.
· Communicate regularly with families regarding student participation, achievements, and concerns.
· Participate in school events and partnership meetings as needed.
Compliance & Operations
· Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, grant expectations, and organizational policies.
· Maintain accurate attendance, enrollment, and program records.
· Monitor program budgets, supplies, and equipment.
· Ensure all safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed.
QualificationsRequired
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Recreation, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
· Minimum of two years of experience working with school-age youth.
· Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to pass all required background checks.
Preferred
· Experience leading afterschool, summer, or youth development programs.
· Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs.
· Knowledge of positive youth development and trauma-informed practices.
· Experience managing grants, licensing requirements, or program compliance.
· Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Physical Requirements
· Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
· Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and participate in recreational activities for extended periods.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,500.00 per year
