Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, with expertise in sushi preparation, food safety, and kitchen operations. Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in sushi preparation
- Maintain proper food handling and safety procedures at all times
- Plan and develop menu items that align with restaurant themes and customer preferences
- Manage ingredient inventory, restocking supplies as needed
- Assist in kitchen organization, cleanliness, and sanitation to meet health regulations
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative sushi offerings and seasonal specials
- Provide excellent food service by ensuring timely delivery of dishes to guests
- Uphold high standards of knife skills, food presentation, and overall culinary craftsmanship
- Support catering events or special functions involving sushi or Japanese cuisine
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or culinary roles within the food industry, preferably in fine dining or restaurant settings
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling procedures
- Expertise in sushi making, including knife skills and ingredient preparation
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and food service operations
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience in catering or serving Japanese cuisine is desirable
- Culinary training or certification related to Japanese cuisine or sushi is preferred
