TJS Excavation is seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to lead excavation and underground utility crews on water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure projects.
The right candidate is a dependable, hands-on leader who knows how to organize a crew, read civil plans, manage equipment and materials, solve problems in the field, and complete projects safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do
· Lead and coordinate a field crew of approximately 3–10 employees
· Oversee underground utility installation, repair, and maintenance
· Assign daily tasks based on project needs and employee experience
· Review project plans, specifications, site conditions, and scope of work
· Monitor project progress, productivity, quality, and schedules
· Conduct daily safety meetings and job-hazard assessments
· Enforce OSHA, trench-safety, shoring, confined-space, and PPE requirements
· Coordinate equipment, materials, utility locates, inspections, and deliveries
· Verify pipe grades, alignments, elevations, and depths
· Communicate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, engineers, clients, and subcontractors
· Complete daily reports covering labor, equipment, materials, production, and safety
· Train, mentor, and hold crew members accountable
· Assist with equipment operation and other field duties when needed
Required Qualifications
· At least 5 years of underground utility construction experience
· At least 3 years of foreman or construction supervisory experience
· Experience with water, sewer, and storm-drain systems
· Ability to read civil plans, blueprints, and project specifications
· Strong knowledge of excavation methods, trench safety, and OSHA requirements
· Ability to operate and oversee excavators, backhoes, compactors, and related equipment
· Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Preferred Qualifications
· OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
· Commercial Driver’s License
· Class D Water or Wastewater Operator License
· Competent Person training for trenching and excavation
· Experience with GPS grade-control systems
· Bilingual in English and Spanish

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position is performed primarily outdoors at active construction sites and may involve heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and other field conditions. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in or around trenches.
Travel to assigned job sites is required. Extended hours, evenings, or weekends may occasionally be necessary based on project demands.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
