Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Field Project Assistant to support our construction team with jobsite inspections, quality control, construction progress tracking, and project documentation. This role supports the Project Manager and Office Manager by visiting active job sites to verify site readiness, perform field measurements, inspect installation progress and document quality/deficiencies in order to ensure projects schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Jobsite Inspections & Quality Control
- Visit active construction sites regularly to inspect construction progress and workmanship.
- Review completed and ongoing work for quality, completeness, and consistency with project plans and company standards.
- Identify visible construction deficiencies, incomplete work, damage, or other quality concerns.
- Take detailed photos and videos documenting construction progress and issues.
- Report deficiencies promptly to the Construction Manager and project team.
- Follow up on previously identified items to confirm corrections have been completed.
- Help identify potential problems early, before they create delays, rework, or additional costs.
Construction Progress
- Monitor the overall condition and progress of each assigned project.
- Verify that scheduled work has been completed before upcoming construction phases or inspections.
- Help confirm that jobsites are ready for subcontractors and upcoming work.
- Identify conditions that may delay construction or affect the next phase of work.
- Provide regular field updates to management.
Plans & Scope Verification
- Compare work performed in the field with approved plans and project requirements.
- Verify basic dimensions, locations, layouts, and installation details when requested.
- Help identify discrepancies between plans and actual field conditions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain clear and organized documentation for every site visit.
- Submit photos, videos, notes, and inspection reports promptly.
- Organize issues by project, trade, location, and priority.
- Use company software and mobile devices to track project information and communicate field updates.
- Maintain accurate records so management can quickly coordinate corrective work.
Qualifications Required
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel between multiple active construction sites.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, computers, photos, email, and cloud-based software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple site visits.
- Strong willingness to learn residential construction.
- Ability to recognize when something does not look correct and communicate the concern rather than ignoring it.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to follow through on assigned tasks.
Preferred but Not Required
- Previous experience in residential construction, remodeling, inspections, or construction-related work.
- Basic ability to read construction plans.
- Familiarity with residential construction trades such as concrete, framing, roofing, windows and doors, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, tile, cabinetry, flooring, and finish work.
- Experience working with subcontractors.
- Spanish-speaking / bilingual is a plus.
- Experience using construction management software is a plus.
