Summary:
Process sheet/plate and structural shapes in a multitude of fabrication machines to produce conveyance equipment parts or structural steel components. Machine operators work to meet production schedules while achieving productivity, efficiency, and safety. Equipment may include a Water Jet, Laser, Folding Table, Press Brakes, Angle Line, Plasma Table, Beam Line, Saws, Shear, Mill, Tube Plasma, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complies with Safety Policies and Standards and company policies
- Perform timely company inspections ie. crane, rigging, hoists, etc.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication, actions, and attitude.
- Effectively meet manufacturing schedule deadlines.
- Continuous improvement of material and work center flow.
- Takes part in shop cleanliness and organization.
- Can follow quality standards throughout the processing process.
- Apply practical application of shop mathematics. Decimals and fractions, geometry, etc.
- Track and logs remnants and heat numbers.
- Utilizes cut lists, nests, etc. for optimal material utilization and optimization.
- Performs machine maintenance (preventative and reactive) when necessary.
- Takes weekly inventory of machine consumables and spare parts.
- Operate multiple fabrication machines operation to MMF’s tolerances.
- Overhead Crane Operation.
- Troubleshoots minor machine issues.
- Ability to read, and interpret shop drawings, and gathers.
- Manually enters part data at the machine to create parts, and multi-parts when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- 5+ years of industry/fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong math skills (addition, geometry, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Strong communication skills
- Working knowledge operating hand tools, power tools, torches, plasma cutters and other fabrication tools.
- Troubleshooting and brainstorming skills
- Be able to handle and lift to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day and up to 70 lbs. occasionally throughout the day.
- Strong understanding of measuring devices, tolerances and machine capabilities
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
