Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in clinical support, patient care, and medical administration within diverse medical settings. As a Lead Medical Assistant, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support staff training, and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient service across outpatient and inpatient environments, including specialized units such as ICU and Geriatrics.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily clinical activities, ensuring efficient patient flow and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations or procedures.
- Support physicians and healthcare providers with procedures such as X-ray, medication administration, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding and detailed patient notes.
- Oversee inventory management of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for various clinical scenarios including hospital medicine and urgent care settings.
- Provide training and mentorship to Medical Assistants and support staff on clinical procedures, safety protocols, and compliance standards.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations pertinent to Level I Trauma Centers, Level II Trauma Centers, Geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and other specialized units.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and medical-surgical practices.
- Proven experience working in hospital environments with Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medical terminology relevant to outpatient and inpatient care.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and billing processes.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures and assist with medication administration in various clinical settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and professionalism.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in supervising clinical teams within hospital medicine or clinic environments.
