This is a 40-hour/week, Full Time (UNITE) position.

Competency: Must be accurate when counting cash and working with customers.
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in a cash handling position.
Language Skills: Excellent written and oral abilities.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to make change, count cash, operate cash register.
Computer Skills: Some computer skills required for cash register operation.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate with customers and fellow employees. Must have an excellent command of English and good written communication skills. Must be punctual and accurate when handling payments from customers.

Summary: Receives payments from customers or employees for goods or services by performing the following duties.

Computes or re-computes bill, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due.

Makes change, processes electronic payments, and issues receipts or tickets for customers.

Records amounts received and prepares reports of transactions.

Read and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand.

Quotes price and describes features of items for which money is received.

Gives cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.

Operates cash register by passing price coded items across electronic scanner to record price, compile printed list, and display cost of customer purchase, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.
