QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education statues, regulations, and special education law;

Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency;

Demonstrated experience with federal programs and/or working with schools/teams in strategic planning;

Considerable knowledge of budgeting and reporting requirements;

Skilled in assessing needs and increasing the potential of special needs students;
-
Demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling caseloads;
-
Familiarity with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process involving evaluation, service delivery and monitoring of instructional and related services;
-
Familiarity of administrative methods and strategies to select, modify, or develop responses to meet unexpected or complex federal program conditions; and
-
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and effective human relations skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master?s degree required from an accredited institution in educational administration or from an accredited institution in education or special education (to include related services disciplines) with course work in education administration.? A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience, and five (5) years of successful experience as a related service provider.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Maryland State Department of Education Certification/Licensure in a related services discipline such as one of the following:? Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Physical Therapy Licensure; Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Occupational Therapy Licensure; Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene AUD, HAD and Speech-Language Pathologist Licensure; Certification in the area of Adapted Physical Education; Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals or ACVREP).? Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrative I or Principal/Supervisory Certification required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in overseeing and providing guidance to the Instructional Specialists and support staff.
