Energy Land & Infrastructure (ELI) is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Civil Engineer to join our growing Energy team as a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager (APM). This position is ideal for an engineering professional with a strong technical background who is ready to take on increasing project leadership responsibilities while supporting Project Managers (PMs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
The selected candidate will coordinate day-to-day project activities, maintain schedules and budgets, support client communications, and produce high-quality technical deliverables. This position offers a clear path toward full Project Management or Technical Lead responsibilities. General tasks associated with this position include the following:
- Assist Project Managers with planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects.
- Own and manage project tasks assigned by the Project Manager, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
- Coordinate day-to-day project activities to maintain project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Support technical design and engineering reviews for oil and gas transmission, distribution, facilities, and related infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, reports, and construction packages.
- Coordinate with engineering, survey, environmental, permitting, and right-of-way teams on the successful delivery of projects.
- Monitor schedules, budgets, action items, and project risks.
- Participate in client meetings, including hosting on occasion, and assist with proposals, scopes, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Support QA/QC and construction-phase engineering.
- Work closely with PMs and SMEs while directing junior engineering and CAD staff on assigned work.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within two years of employment.
- 5–10 years of progressive engineering experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience with pipeline, facilities, compressor/regulator stations, terminals, or similar energy infrastructure.
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Past experience with, or ability to own and manage, permitting tasks including DOT, railroad, and local agency permits.
- Ability to work with junior staff and directing engineering design, CAD production, and project deliverable development.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, project execution, and construction.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Projects preferred.
