Lead Commercial AV Field Service Technician – Chicago, IL
Requirements to Apply: This is a senior, customer-facing field service role. The Role
TAIV is seeking a Lead Commercial AV Field Service Technician to manage installation, service, and technical support across the Chicago market. This individual is the senior technical resource for the region — responsible for resolving complex AV issues, supporting venue partners directly, and maintaining consistent, high-quality service delivery. The role combines hands-on AV work with customer service responsibilities and requires someone who can work independently, manage a demanding schedule, and represent TAIV professionally under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the Chicago market, responding to calls, texts, and emails from venue staff and internal teams, including outside standard business hours
- Install, configure, and service TAIV AV hardware, including restaurant/bar AV and matrix systems
- Independently diagnose and resolve signal, power, and connectivity issues
- Use computers, diagnostic software, ticketing systems, and AI-based tools daily to troubleshoot issues and document work
- Travel to 2–4+ commercial locations per day using a personal vehicle
- Provide on-call support for urgent venue issues as the market's escalation point
- Maintain professional, consistent communication with venue owners, staff, and TAIV leadership
- Support and guide additional technicians as the Chicago market grows
Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial AV experience — required
- Hands-on experience with matrix systems and structured technical troubleshooting
- Strong computer proficiency; comfortable using AI-based tools in daily work
- Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance — required
- Comfortable using ladders in commercial environments
- Strong customer service and communication skills; able to manage difficult situations professionally
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- English required; Spanish preferred
- Willing and able to be on call, including some evenings and weekends, and to manage a physically demanding daily schedule
Compensation & Schedule
- Position Type: 60-day trial/probationary period, transitioning to full-time salaried employment
- Probation Period: 60 days; pay discussed during the interview
- After Probation: Guaranteed 40 hours/week; strong performance leads to an offer of full-time salaried employment
- Mileage Reimbursement: $0.72 per mile
- Schedule: Full-time, primarily weekdays, with required on-call availability for urgent issues
- Location: Chicago and surrounding metro area

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
