Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations of the agency while ensuring compliance with federal, state, Medicare, ACHC, and agency standards. The DON provides leadership to the clinical team, promotes quality patient outcomes, supports staff development, and drives continuous performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all patient care services.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff and clinical personnel.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, Florida Home Health regulations, ACHC standards, OSHA, CDC guidelines, and infection control requirements.
- Oversee patient admissions, case assignments, care coordination, and case management.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, including OASIS accuracy and quality outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies and procedures.
- Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI/PI) initiatives to improve patient outcomes and agency performance.
- Monitor clinical quality metrics and ensure adherence to agency standards.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop clinical staff.
- Coordinate orientation, annual competencies, and continuing education programs.
- Participate in patient care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Collaborate with the Administrator on agency operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and annual program evaluations.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and agency information.
- Serve as the clinical resource for staff and ensure excellent patient-centered care.
- Designate qualified clinical leadership during periods of absence.
QualificationsRequired
- Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience as an RN in a Medicare-Certified Home Health Agency.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Home Health regulations
- Medicare Conditions of Participation
- OASIS
- CMS requirements
- ACHC standards
- Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office setting with occasional field visits to support clinical operations and patient care. The work environment is professional, collaborative, and focused on delivering exceptional home health services.
