Pile Superintendent – Job Description
Position Summary
The Pile Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all pile installation operations on assigned projects. This role ensures piling activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, engineering requirements, and applicable regulations. The Pile Superintendent leads field crews, coordinates equipment and materials, and works closely with project management, engineers, and inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily pile driving and foundation operations on-site
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate pile installation activities
- Ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and geotechnical requirements
- Enforce all safety policies, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety plans
- Lead, train, and manage pile driving crews, operators, and laborers
- Monitor production rates and adjust operations to meet schedule milestones
- Maintain daily reports, pile logs, production tracking, and safety documentation
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of pile driving equipment and tools
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and daily job briefings
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in pile driving or deep foundation construction
- Proven experience supervising pile driving crews and heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of geotechnical reports and pile load requirements
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
Preferred Skills
- Experience with solar, utility-scale, or heavy civil projects
- Familiarity with vibration monitoring and pile testing methods
- Proficiency in daily reporting and basic project documentation
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work long hours, including early mornings and weekends if needed
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery and construction environments
Overtime is offered after 40 hours at a time and a half. Per diem Days worked if traveling to project.
