The Yard Laborer will assist any or all departments of the Company. The Yard Laborer must help to ensure the timely completion of jobs and projects. This includes loading and unloading trucks for Company employees and customers, organizing and supervising temporary laborers, and performing service work as required.

Ensure that all Will Call DPR’s are complete and accurate.

Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary, with little or no notice.

Learn/Responsible for safe lifting, loading, and unloading of equipment to and from trucks.

Arrive at the work site on time wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g., hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, masks, and earplugs as required, and when applicable, a respirator.

Lift, carry and stack materials and traffic signs.

Clean, sweep and organize yard, shops, and inventory.

Wash and clean equipment and traffic control devices and vehicles

Ensure a high focus on inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with team members inside and out of the organization

Self-motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines.

A strong knowledge of the traffic control/construction industry is a major plus.

Willing to travel as needed.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
-
Work is performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperature, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry and / or windy conditions.
-
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
-
Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
-
Work includes prolonged and repeated lifting (including overhead) up to 80lbs., standing, walking, climbing, twisting, kneeling, reaching and feeling, climb and balance, crouching and crawling.

Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination

Able to stand for extended periods of time, 8 to 10 hrs. per day up to 6 days per week
Requirements

A Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR are preferred.

Forklift certification and Flagger certification may be required.

Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
