Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating various types of material handling equipment, including reach trucks, forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and Hi-Lo forklifts, to facilitate the safe and accurate movement of goods within the warehouse. Your expertise will ensure smooth warehouse operations, proper inventory management, and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong warehouse experience, excellent manual handling skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Duties
- Operate forklift equipment such as reach trucks, lift trucks, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and Hi-Lo forklifts to load and unload shipments efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Manage inventory by accurately picking orders using barcode scanning technology and warehouse management systems.
- Assist in shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation.
- Perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and materials transfer within the warehouse.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and update warehouse management systems accordingly.
- Follow all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety protocols related to forklift operation and materials handling.
- Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing stock locations and ensuring proper storage practices.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and improve overall warehouse efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards in production areas during equipment operation.
Skills
- Proven experience operating various types of material handling equipment including reach trucks, forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and Hi-Lo forklifts.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and barcode scanning for logistics tracking.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures and inventory control practices.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to manual handling guidelines.
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately.
- Understanding of forklift safety protocols and OSHA regulations related to equipment operation.
- Experience with equipment repair or basic maintenance is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in order picking and inventory management.
- Knowledge of warehouse distribution processes and materials handling best practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards.
