We are hiring a CARE Site Coordinator!
This is a full time, year round leadership position that is responsible for the day to day operations of a (C.A.R.E.) Community After-School Relationship Enrichment Program site as part of our extended day program. We are looking for someone with experience coordinating programs, providing leadership to staff, and working with diverse students and their families.
Candidates must have a bachelors or associates degree with two years of successful experience leading academic or enrichment activities school age children in a group setting.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The After School CARE Program Site Coordinator performs a variety of functions to implement and oversee the daily operations of a CARE program site in collaboration with the CARE Program Coordinator. Experience in After school/extended learning programs, bilingual fluency strongly preferred, and experience with family and student engagement/social services.
SCHEDULE: Regular school year hours- 9:45 am-6:15 pm. Schedule may be adjusted on non-school days and during summer. Must be available for occasional evening meetings. . Subject to change, depending on department needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with diverse families and communities, with a commitment to enhancing community engagement.
- Valid driver's license.
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree (or equivalent) and 2 years of experience in early childhood development, physical education, or recreation.
- 2 years of experience leading group activities for school-age children.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and defibrillator operation (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to manage and console emotional or frustrated students and stay calm in challenging situations.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to set and meet priorities, and maintain student confidentiality (FERPA).
- Collaborative and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in using office equipment, standard software, and student information systems.
- Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, gender, and religious diversity.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual and bicultural skills in common languages representative of the District, such as Spanish, Korean, Russian and Vietnamese (to be determined by the specific position).
- Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforce program policies and regulations.Collaborate with the CARE Program Coordinator to supervise, coach, schedule, and evaluate staff and volunteers, including arranging substitutes.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate daily activities, including enrichment classes, recreational activities, and field trips, ensuring safety and accountability.
- Maintain program records such as attendance, meal counts, and incident reports.
- Assist with safety and emergency preparedness, coordinating and documenting drills.
- Respond to inquiries from staff and parents, document behavior concerns, and handle minor injuries.
- Assist with program billing, manage payments, and ensure compliance with district policies.
- Oversee supply needs, purchasing, and facility maintenance.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children, intervening in unsafe situations and providing first aid as needed.
- Protect student confidentiality and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Keep accurate staff records, report issues to the Coordinator, and implement program improvements.
- Attend meetings and training, and collaborate with school staff on space usage and emergency planning.
