Join a vibrant and dynamic team as a Gallery Assistant, where your passion for art and design will help create an engaging environment for visitors and artists alike. In this role, you will support the daily operations of the gallery, assist with exhibitions, and ensure that artworks are presented beautifully and securely. Your creativity, technical skills, and enthusiasm will contribute to showcasing inspiring collections and fostering meaningful connections through art. ( Must live in Los Angeles)
Duties
- Greet visitors warmly, providing information about current exhibitions and gallery events to enhance their experience
- Assist with the installation, deinstallation, and maintenance of artworks- creating labels, printing certificates of authenticity and supporting sales staff.
- Manage and create digital content creation and catalogs for upcoming exhibitions.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace ensuring all equipment such as power tools, cleaning supplies, shipping supplies, and security systems are used safely and correctly
- Workload split between gallery and art archive depending where the most help is needed- this role will work at multiple locations.
- Archive assistance requires support in scanning and labeling animation art, supporting in pre-show preparations with archive staff.
- Packing and shipping fine art pieces.
Skills
- Strong understanding of art direction and layout design regarding the set up of the gallery walls.
- Knowledge of fabrication methods using hand tools and power tools; experience with carpentry or interior design is a plus
- Familiarity with art handling, crate shipments and wrapping framed art experience is preferred.
- Excellent client communication skills to engage visitors effectively and collaborate with artists or external vendors
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while managing multiple projects
- Knowledge of FedEx, UPS and international shipments, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is helpful but not required.
